General Experience Playing Here: 4.5 General
This is a top tier poker room, the management team is fantastic and the dealers are among the best in Las Vegas. The Wynn will spread anything from $4/$8 limit and up. You might even see some big time pros playing there. The day we played, Phil Ivey was playing in the high limit area with 5 other players. We couldn’t tell what the stakes were, as it didn’t look like the big burly guy standing by the table wanted me to come too close to the game.
Competition Rating: 4
Aggressiveness Rating: 4
Player Mix: 4
Played $4/$8 limit while waiting for a seat at the no limit tables. The $4/$8 game was very aggressive with raises almost every hand pre-flop and 5-7 callers each flop. Pots were big and the players were an even mix of good and bad players.
The $1/$3 table was also a good mix of good and bad players and I was able to win a couple of big pots. When you buy into the $1/$3 game you are given $3 chips which seem kinda cool when you first get them, but it is confusing at the table. Most players are used to making bets in $5 increments and when bets are made in $3 increments it takes some players a while to figure out how many chips to put in the pot. We think it slows the game down and has no real benefit other than to be different. Another thing to be careful of when playing at the Wynn, there is no maximum limit to the amount a player can buy in for so the potential is there for someone to try to run over the game.
Room Condition: 4.5
There are 27 tables in the room and the chairs are comfortable and adjustable. There is a computerized list system. The room is blocked off and gets a lot of onlookers on the rail. The only draw back we can see, is that the tables might just be a little bit too close together. There is a separate high limit area.
Dealer Rating: 4.5
The dealers at the Wynn are as good as anyplace I have been, every single one that we saw was professional, friendly and kept the game moving without making errors.
Cocktail Service: 2
The cocktail service was not up to the rest of the room. There was quite a bit of time between placing an order and receiving it. The Wynn also offers food service at the table, which took several tries at our table to get someone over to take an order.
Management Rating: 5
This is the best run poker room we have played at in Las Vegas. Each of the floor staff was professional and quick to respond. They handled the list well, seated players quickly and handled disputes quickly and professionally.
Comps: 3.5
$1 per hour played, can be used anywhere in the Wynn as far as we could tell.
