Detailed Editor's Review Ratings Below:

General Experience Playing Here: 2.5

This is a tough rating to give, the room is the nicest we have played in and the players were good and the cocktail service was excellent, but the dealers and management staff were well below expectations.

You won’t find a better room asthetically in Vegas and we believe over time the staff will improve (it has too) so we think the Venetian will compete with the top rooms in Vegas but it is not there yet. The staff is very enthusiastic and certainly customer friendly in attitude but there performance is lacking and they don’t seem to work well as a team yet but hopefully that will come together sooner than later.

For now, the rating is low, but we will certainly check back again in the near future to see how things have progressed.

c Competition Rating: 3.5 Aggressiveness Rating: 3 Player Mix: 3.5

Playing in a $4/$8 game, there was a good mix of players, mostly tourists with a couple of locals. The competition was a good mix, there were some tight players and some players that came to just have a good time and didn’t care if they won or lost. Obviously, most of the players were playing in the room for the first time. The style of play varied throughout the day, depending on the mix of players, it was fairly aggressive early with a lot of raising but as some players busted out it became cheaper to see flops. There was money to be made but you had to adjust to the changing conditions. There was a lot of turnover at my table for a 4 hour period, so it was difficult to get accustomed to a style of play. We think that might be a result of the room being so new, a lot of players were just stopping by to check it out and play for a little bit we think. It will be interesting to check back in a month or so and see if that changes.

Room Condition: 5

This is definitely a first class room all the way. Although there are 39 tables in the room (7 are in the high limit area), there is all kinds of room between the tables. The tables themselves are obviously brand new and beautiful with oversized cup holders. The chairs are the best in Vegas, extra thick cushions and adjustable, the same chairs that the dealers are using.

There is a beautiful and comfortable seating area for players to use while waiting to play. There are 21 plasma TVs located around the room, although from the middle of the room they aren’t big enough to see real well.

All in all, a wonderful setting to play poker, probably the nicest room in Vegas.

Dealer Rating: 1.5

For a room that is striving to be among the best in Vegas, the dealers have a long way to go. wE had heard that they hired a lot of inexperienced dealers and it showed. Every single one of the dealers that were at my table during the 4 hours I played made at least one mistake. We don’t want to over generalize and say that all the dealers are bad, because we certainly only experienced a small portion of them, there was only 7 tables going when we played and there were probably 30 dealers on staff, so it is possible that we just experienced a bad stretch but we would expect better performance from my dealers in a room of this caliber.

Cocktail Service: 5

Fast, friendly and beautiful. What more can you ask for? The cocktail servers were constantly around and very friendly.

Management Rating: 1

Just like the dealers, there were a lot of managers/floor people around but they didn’t impress with the way they ran the room. Several of the floor people had trouble getting people seated in the right games, although they seated people very quickly, they didn’t do a good job of keeping the games balanced. During a 45 minute stretch, our table had only 8 players and we saw them seat 8 different players at other $4/$8 tables that were 9 handed. This didn’t change after we mentioned this to one of the managers.

Another thing that was not acceptable in my opinion, was the way that the floor people interacted with the dealers. On two different occasions we saw them reprimanding and even yelling at dealers while they were still at the table. If there was a problem with a dealer, they should have had someone replace them (they certainly had enough extra ones) and dealt with the problem elsewhere. Very unprofessional in my opinion.

Comps: 2.5

$1/hr for use in the poker room only. You can order food off a menu and have it while you play. The food appeared to be very good, We just like to have a few more options with how to use my comps.
