General Experience Playing Here: 3
I should rate this lower because of the management, but I think this is a nice little room and I certainly think that a good player can make some money in this room. The Tuscany isn’t very far from the strip so if you are looking for some soft competition at lower limits, I would recommend a visit to the Tuscany.
Competition Rating: 4.5
Aggressiveness Rating: 3
Player Mix: 4
Only 5 other players playing when I sat down, one other chip stack on the table. Three locals, myself and two tourists playing, the unattended chip stack ended up being a poker room employee’s. This group was probably as bad a group of players that you will find at any given time in Vegas. This of course leads to some suck outs, I had one lady suck out a flush on me when she had 2-3 of diamonds and she cold called a raise on a flop of Q-J-6 with one diamond and got runner runner diamonds. Another player only raised twice all day and both times she had pocket aces. Another player thought he was a professional and had to comment on everyone’s play, as he re-bought twice in the 2 hours I played-I only wish I had been able to play longer.
Room Condition: 4
The Tuscany poker room is one of the nicest small poker rooms you will find. There are only 5 tables in a walled in room (they could easily put 6 tables in, so there is plenty of room). There are two big screen plasma TVs along one wall that are visible from a majority of the seats, there are a couple of other smaller TVs also. The tables and chairs are nothing out of the ordinary. There is a bar in the room, but I don’t think it is ever used, possibly on really busy nights.
Dealer Rating: 4
The two dealers that were on duty when I played, where friendly and very competent. They didn’t make any mistakes that I saw and ran the game very well.
Cocktail Service: 1
The cocktail waitress was only in the room twice in the 2 hours I was there and one of those times was just as I sat down. She didn’t even ask me if I wanted a drink then as she was bringing drinks at that time, so in 2 hours I was only able to order 1 drink.
Management Rating: 0.5
There were two different managers that I encountered and neither one was professional. The first one was the one playing the game with us-on one occasion he criticized my play when I cold called a $12 bet after the turn, when I had a A-8 of diamonds on a board of T-8-3-2 with 2 diamonds and the pot was over $70. I didn’t hit my diamonds but hit an Ace on the river to win with two pairs. I really don’t care when other players criticize my play, particularly when I am taking their money, but for the poker room manager to do so is unacceptable. The same manager also made a decision that was work in my opinion and changed his mind when I pointed out his mistake. The second manager came on shift and promptly went to the TVs and changed channels on both TVs, I was watching one of them and I decided to leave after that. When I was cashing out, the manager that changed the channels was at the podium, he asked me how I was doing-I told him I was doing fine until he came in and changed channels on both TVs without asking if anyone was watching them. I suggested that if he only had a 6 handed game going he might want to check with those players before he changed the TV stations. He basically told me that he ran the room and he controlled what was on the TVs-very unprofessional attitude.
