Detailed Editor's Review Ratings Below:

General Experience Playing Here: 5

It would be very hard to rate my experience at the Texas Station at anything lower than a 5 given the fact that I was lucky enough to be part of the Station Casinos Bad Beat jackpot and was rewarded with a large payout.

Aside from that obviously rare occurrence I would rate the overall playing experience at the Texas as a 3.5. This is a straight forward poker room without a lot of frills-the list system is very nice though.

There is often an Omaha game going and even an Omaha tournament once a week, so if you like Omaha this would be a good place to head. There wasn’t any no-limit game going when I was there, and in talking to some players there usually is mostly limit games being played.

Competition Rating: 3
Aggressiveness Rating: 2.5
Player Mix: 3

The quality of player is not very high at the Texas Station-a lot of calling stations and passive aggressive play. There are almost entirely locals playing at the Texas Station but none are scary in the least. Most seem to be there in hopes of the Bad Beat Jackpot to hit and consequently you see a lot of players staying to the river in hopes of hitting a Bad Beat. Even the better players are pretty easy to get a read on, but with all the calling stations, luck is a bigger factor than I would like to see in a poker game. I have only played limit poker at the Texas, there wasn’t a no limit game going when I was there, so I don’t know if that is any different or not.

Room Condition: 3.5

The Texas Station poker room is surrounded by a waist high wall, which separates it from the nearby slots. The room is quieter than I would have imaged given the proximity to the slots. The tables are a little worn and the chairs are not the most comfortable, but there is an automated list system, including a kiosk that you can use your players card at and sign up for games yourself.

Dealer Rating: 5

I am going to give the dealers a 5 based solely on the fact that I was lucky enough to be part of the Jumbo Jackpot bad beat. (Without that, I would still give them a strong 4 rating). The dealers are friendly and keep the game running smoothly and errors are at a minimum.

Cocktail Service: 1.5

The cocktail service was very slow and the waitresses were not overly friendly. This is an area that could certainly use some improvement

Management Rating: 3.5

The management was friendly and helpful in all aspects. They started up a new game as soon as there were enough players waiting.

Comps: 3

$1/hr for playing up to $7 per day.
