General Experience Playing Here: 3
The Sunset Station poker room is a typical locals’ poker room, not a lot of frills just a lot of good solid poker. The Sunset Station is not too far off the strip, maybe a 10-15 minute drive. There is not really anything spectacular to lure you here, but if you are doing a tour of local casinos, there are several in the general area and it would be worth a visit.
Competition Rating: 2.5
Aggressiveness Rating: 2
Player Mix: 2.5
Mostly locals at the Sunset Station and they are pretty knowledgeable. During the day the play was extremely tight. I just played in the limit game as they did not have a no limit game going when I arrived. I did like the $3/$6/$9 format. Not a lot of chasing after the turn card and the format did allow you to bluff some.
Room Condition: 3.5
The room is nice, nothing spectacular. Just a very functional room, and it is a separate room which is always nice. There is plenty of room to move around even with the 12 tables in place, they probably could squeeze in 2 more tables but I like not having to crawl over people to move around in a poker room.
Dealer Rating: 4
The dealers are experienced for the most part and are good at what they do. As in any primarily locals casino, the dealers interact well with the regulars.
Cocktail Service: 3.5
The cocktail service was good, the waitresses were friendly and attractive. Didn’t hear anyone complaining about the service, which is rare these days.
Management Rating: 3.5
Like the dealers the management seemed experienced and good at what they do. Didn’t see any decisions having to be made, the list management was very well handled and seats were filled quickly.
Comps: 3
$1/hr for time played up to $7 per day.
