UPDATE!!
October 31, 2006

The Stardust officially closed its Poker Room doors today. The whole casino will be imploded to make way for a replacement hotel called Echelon Place.

General Experience Playing Here: 3.5

The Stardust is a good poker room and you should visit it sometime this year if you have the opportunity, as the casino will be closing at the end or 2006. For the most part the games have a good mix of players, the dealers are competent and management and cocktail service is above average.

Competition Rating: 3.5 Aggressiveness Rating: 3.5 Player Mix: 3.5

Playing in $3/$6 game, the mix was pretty good, a couple of locals but mostly tourists. None of the players was very strong, and they were fairly easy to read. At the $3/$6 level though, still had plenty of chasing and catching of cards on the river.

We have played in the tournaments a couple of times, the players are generally a pretty even mix. There is generally quite a few players in the tournaments and they only pay 4 places, so you need to get lucky to cash, but the payoff is pretty big if you do cash.

Room Condition: 2.5

The room is nothing spectacular, but it is in a good location right next to the sportsbook and right inside the casino from the parking lot. The tables are worn, as are the chairs but there is plenty of spacing between the tables. Not many TVs and those that they have are not viewable from a lot of seats. Don’t expect the room condition to get any better, as the Stardust is set to close at the end of 2006.

The dealers were good for the most part, a couple of minor mistakes but they were friendly and patient for the most part and kept the games going.

Cocktail Service: 4

Cocktail service was fast and friendly, even during busy times.

Management Rating: 3.5

Management does a good job of getting players into games, even though they only have a paper waiting list. They also keep the tournaments running smoothly.

Comps: 4

You can get a $5 comp for playing 4 hours. The good thing is that you can get more than one comp per day, without much trouble.
