General Experience Playing Here: 1
Unfortunately, we found the Riviera poker room lacking in character, and hands took to long to play The dealers were very friendly and tried to keep the game going but when we played late at night just to many players had to much to drink. It was very hard to get into or feel for the game at all very frustrating ,one player even thanked another player for letting him play for another hour before losing his money because play was so slow. Another thing we could not believe was that the Dealer who just dealt to you and got off shift, would 5 minutes later, join the game and be playing against you. You didn’t want to play against the Dealer, if you lost, it felt like you were losing to the house.

Player Mix:
The only locals who played at this Poker Room were the Dealers who had just got off their shift! In our view, this is most unprofessional and we have never seen this anywhere else. They didn’t even change out of their uniforms at times when they sat down to play.
Also, we found it was a very hard place to play each hand. Each hand took a long time to play because the Dealer’s let the players take their time deciding whether to call, fold, or raise.
The best game was the $1-2NL. At times that game seemed quite loose, and at other times it was also quite conservative. The other game we played here was the $2-4L game with very small pots. We could not win any money at this table. However, you got a better feel for the $4-8L game. It was better than the other Limit game but in general, still had very few raises.
All games had only one blind.
Room Condition: 1
We really did not like this Room at all. It seemed like they found an open space on their Casino floor and just threw a Poker Room together…or rather a Poker “area.”
There were about 6 tables all cordoned off from the rest of the casino.
Dealer Rating: 2.5
The games took too long to play, they let the players control the pace at the table. The Dealer’s were not assertive in pushing the players to take their turns. To the dealers credit, they were very friendly and tried to do their best. I think there needs to be changes to how the room is managed, ie. like the dealers should not play at the tables.
Cocktail Service: 2.5
The Cocktail Waitresses were around so it was easy to get a drink. They were also quite friendly and had a smile for you.
Management Rating: 1
The management was also very friendly and tried hard to get you on the tables as quick as possible, but I think they need to change some rules about dealers playing and get the games moving quicker
Comps: ?
We aren’t aware if there were any comps available. If there were, we didn’t take advantage of them.
