General Experience Playing Here: 4
If you want to have a good time and experience a unique poker setting, with a better than average chance at making some money, then you should give O’Shea’s a shot at least once. If you take your poker seriously, you had better stay away.
Competition Rating: 4.5
Aggressiveness Rating: 2
Player Mix: 4.5
The players at the O’Shea’s poker tables were not very good on the night I visited. I played a spread limit game $1-$5 Texas Hold em with a bunch of drunk young kids. They weren’t obnoxious, they just didn’t know what they were doing. The game was a little slow moving but otherwise no complaints. The location of the tables probably means that a lot of inexperienced players will frequent O’Shea’s
Room Condition: 1.5
It would be stretching it to call the O’Shea’s poker room a “room”. Someone decided to put two poker tables down in an open area right at the entrance to the casino and see if anyone would play poker.
This is one of the most unique settings in all of Las Vegas, you are virtually on the sidewalk of the strip while playing poker. The entertainment value of watching the passers-by is worth a visit by itself.
Dealer Rating: 2.5
The dealers are from the Flamingo poker room, so they are pretty good, although I think they are probably from the bottom of the list at the Flamingo. They did as good a job as was possible in keeping the game running, given the condition of some of the players.
Cocktail Service: 4
The poker tables are right next to a bar and the waitresses were they quite frequently. Again this might be a result of the clientele that was drinking heavily and over-tipping.
Management Rating: 3.5
They did a good job of maintaining order in a very chaotic setting.
Comps: ?
Didn’t check out comps, but would imagine that they are not in place yet.
