General Experience Playing Here: 4
I would certainly recommend a visit to the Orleans poker room. Although it is off the strip, it is one of the larger poker rooms in Vegas-it lacks some of the pizzazz of some of the strip rooms, but you should always be able to find a game that suits your style. The management is good and the cocktail waitresses are among the best in Vegas.
Competition Rating: 2.5
Aggressiveness Rating: 3
Player Mix: 2.5
A lot of locals play in the Orleans poker room, although there are a fair amount of tourists also. The locals at the Orleans tend to be better than average, particularly at the lower limit levels. I tried to play some Omaha Hi/Lo on my last visit and found the players to be very good, raises were legitimate and respected and the players calling raises were generally right in doing so. A very good level of play for a $4/$8 game.
Room Condition: 3
The Orleans Poker Room is big, with a lot of tables, some of the tables are used only for tournament play. You should almost always be able to find the type of game you want to play, particularly at the lower limits. The TVs in the room are too small, they are okay to watch, but it is hard to read anything off of them, such as sports scores. There is an electronic list system, so you can always tell where you are on a list. There is plenty of room between the tables and the room is kept clean. There is nothing out of the ordinary in the tables or the chairs.
Dealer Rating: 2.5
The dealers as a whole are not overly friendly, although there are exceptions. My overall impression of the dealers is that they don’t really enjoy their jobs. The dealers are efficient, just not spectacular in any way.
Cocktail Service: 4.5
The cocktail service is generally pretty quick, there are usually enough waitresses working the room, I think sometimes the bar gets backed up, which slows down the service. The waitresses themselves are friendly and well above average looking.
Management Rating: 3.5
The management team is competent, they do a good job of managing the list and they usually have a couple of people working the floor, so if you need something they are quick to respond. The daily tournaments are very well ran.
Comps: 3.5
$1.50/hr for the first 4 hours of play in a day, which is above average. That falls to .50/hr for the next 6 hours for a max of $9 per day.
