General Experience Playing Here: 2.5
The poker room at the Las Vegas Hilton is definitely average, there was nothing outstanding to recommend it, nor was there anything out of the ordinary to dissuade someone from playing there. We wouldn’t go out of my way to play there, which is an issue since it is not located on the Strip, but if we were going to play there again, we would do so when there is a big convention at the Hilton Convention Center. Also, if we were staying at the Hilton, we wouldn’t hesitate to give the room a try, but again we wouldn’t call the Hilton a “destination” poker room.
Competition Rating: 2
Aggressiveness Rating: 3
Player Mix: 2.5
There were a lot of locals in the $4/$8 game that we played in and they were pretty tight players. Not a lot of raising, nor were there a lot of callers pre-flop, usually only 4-5 players seeing a flop. The pots weren’t very big on average and not any real weak players.
We would imagine that the player mix might be a little better on a weekend particularly when there is a large convention in town. We will check out that theory when possible.
Room Condition: 2.5
The poker room is fairly new in its present form. It is located next to the spacious race and sportsbook. It is in a separate room, but it is nothing spectacular. The tables are new and the chairs are new but not overly comfortable. There are 4 big screen TVs in the room, but not the best place to watch sporting events. They do have an electronic list system, although there was little need for it when we were there.
Dealer Rating: 2.5
The dealers were good, but nothing spectacular. They were friendly for the most part but did make a couple of mistakes.
Cocktail Service: 4
The cocktail service was very good and the waitresses were very friendly. There was a waitress stationed exclusively in the poker room, so the service was available whenever needed.
Management Rating: 2.5
The management seemed friendly and professional. We didn’t see them have to settle any disputes and the room was not overly crowded when we were there.
Comps: 2.5
The Las Vegas Hilton gives $1/hr in comps which is pretty standard. The only drawback is that you can’t get a card in the poker room; you have to go out to the casino to get it.
