Detailed Editor's Review Ratings Below:

General Experience Playing Here: 2

We found the $3-6 Limit Game was loose and could make money if you were patient. There were a few characters who played throughout the night who were interesting, but overall, we would not go out of our way to play at the Luxor. We liked the hotel but did not like the tournament style we played here. It was a speed tournamanent where you only received $300 starting chips. You already felt “under-the-gun.”

Competition Rating: 2.5

We found the $1-2 No Limit game was a very hard game to play unless you started at a freshly opened table. If you sat down at a table that had been playing awhile and there were a few sharks with much larger stacks than the $50 maximum you were allowed to sit down with, you could very easily get bullied by those players with their large pile of chips.

The $3-6 Limit game was very loose with lots of raising. Players would call with anything and could not be bluffed out. You would get called on everything. We played the $50 Buy-in Tournament and only received $300 in chips. You literally got blinded away if you did not get any playable pocket cards. This was a turbo tournament. We didn’t find it very satisfactory participating in the Luxor’s tournament and would not play this type of tournament again.

We found the players here not very good and very loose.

Room Condition: 2.5

The Luxor’s Poker Room just didn’t have that “poker room” feel. It was a little out of the way of the rest of the Casino and was not immediately near the washrooms.

Dealer Rating: 2

We found the Dealers here were okay but didn’t know how to keep the game moving. They obviously did not have control of the table.

Cocktail Service: 2

Cocktail Waitresses here were very slow. It seemed to take forever to get your drink

We just weren’t very impressed with much of anything at the Luxor Poker Room.

Management Rating: 2.5

We weren’t impressed with the management either. In general, they were okay but did not go out of the way to help you and did not seem very friendly.

When we lost out in the tournament, we were interested to know what the breakdown of the payout was. We went to the Poker Desk and asked the Pitt Boss there what it was. He said he didn’t know and didn’t seem to want to check until we prompted him to find out. Only then did he move to find the answer for us.

Comps: ?

We aren’t aware if there were any comps available. If there were, we didn’t take advantage of them.
